Explore flexible approaches to learning ... survey responses
The theories of learning investigated encourage flexible approaches to learning.
A good introduction to professional use of Wikis.
This was my first experience of using a wiki to learn, share, document and collaborate by being a contributor as well as a reader. I love that a wiki is a process and a product and that it is dynamic.
Hmmm , I’m a novice at the wiki I think and I was more of an observer and reader, than active participant. However as this goes on we will get more confident and understand the different uses and engage a bit more. Sometimes it was hard to keep the enthusiasm up…perhaps some intensive work in a shorter space of time is indicated instead of once a term, and I know the team could have picked up this option! Oh well ….next time.
I think this is where I felt at times frustrated. I had joined the group to learn more about how the brain functions in learning. I also had trouble with wiki and how to use it - that's my problem, not the groups.
Provided in engaged in the IT
I attempted to contribute to the wiki whenever I could, but time is always an issue.
Rather than posting a summary of the documents I read and research I have undertaken in relation to learning theories I chose to create a Lotus chart as a visual representation of contemporary learning theories which underpin the teaching of languages. I have used this resource a number of times in the work I do as a Languages Consultant.
I think we made an effort to engage with the wiki although the focus was still on Web 1.0 i.e. retrieval of information rather than Web 2.0 creation/collaboration.
I think we struggled with time … even though we had 3 designated blocks of time.
I think we learned enough about the process so that if we did it again we could improve the outcomes/objectives
